Fall Tree Planting Events

GTU/Stream Team member Michael Hey has been in contact with MDC regarding tree planting and related projects for September forward.

They are currently in the planning phase of 4-5 events this Fall. 

One will be in Eureka, MO on the Meremac River. The others will be near Leasburg, MO on the Huzzah River.

Mike is in the process of coordinating dates for these events, details will be coming soon.

In the meantime, if
you have interest in projects like this that are intended to improve water quality, habitat, and the animals who depend on our stewardship of this planet, we want to hear from you!

Annual Clean Stream Event Is August 24

The annual Operation Clean Stream event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 24, at various locations throughout the Meramec Watershed.
Each year the Bourbeuse River Operation Clean Stream group, along with the Meramec, the Huzzah and Courtois and the Big River groups, clean up stretches of river in the Meramec Watershed.
The 34th annual cleanup activities start early Saturday with breakfast at the Beaufort Lions Hall from 6 to 9 a.m. The Lions Club will act as a home base for the day.

VWQM Level 1 Workshop - Wildwood

There is a Level 1 workshop scheduled for September 21st at Babler State Park. It lasts all day. Interested parties need to have completed the Intro class and should go to the Missouri Stream Team website to register. Here are more details.

WHEN: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

WHERE: Babler State Park

Wildwood, MO 63005

Volunteers who have successfully completed the Introductory workshop and have submitted the Site Selection data sheet, Stream Discharge and Macroinvertebrate data, are eligible to attend a Level 1 workshop.
This is the workshop through which volunteers qualify to receive chemical monitoring equipment. This level of training covers physical monitoring (i.e., visual survey), chemical monitoring and reviews biological monitoring. Like the Introductory workshop, this class includes a midday field trip to a nearby stream where techniques to conduct a visual survey and measure water chemistry are practiced.
